There are 3 grades to antlers 1, 2 and 3. Grade 1 are fresh this years drops (dark brown) and the only ones we will buy. 2’s are seasoned drops (about one year, making them a little harder) with more risk of a fractured tooth. Then there are grade #3 called chalky whites (because they feel like you just picked up a piece of chalk when handled)  these are the worst antler for dogs to chew and because antler has become so popular some companies buy them. They can be dangerous, they are brittle and are a choking hazzard.
